Hello Player!
I'm Mike Carletta. I've been playing text adventures since (I think) 1977, when I played the original Adventure on my high school's mainframe. In college, I played Zork on a mainframe where it had to be loaded from paper tape. When the golden age of text adventures came, I became a rabid Infocom fan, playing every one of their games, plus many games from Magnetic Scrolls, Level 9, Synapse, Topologika and others.
I'm now retired, and I've begun writing old-school text adventures. I like to think that they're games I would have loved to play back in the day.
Remember the serials of the 1930s and 1940s? Well, they were before my time, too. But I enjoy watching them on disc. I set my first game, Dynamite Powers vs. the Ray of Night!, as a single episode of a space adventure serial inspired by Flash Gordon. It's a puzzly adventure full of mad science, and begins and ends (as a good episode always does) with a cliffhanger!
Return to the serials in The Song of the Mockingbird! It's the final episode of a singing cowboy serial, set in Texas just after the Civil War. TSotM took third place in the 2021 IFComp.
